Jerry Manuel, part of the problem, not the solution

As I sit here and watch my beloved Mets flounder around and look ridiculous I am starting to accept the reality that our manager is doing more to hurt the Mets then to help them.

I am starting to be convinced that Jerry Manuel is flat out bat-shit crazy. Can anyone explain to me why he does what he does? Why has he single handedly destroyed Ryan Church? Why did he try so hard to inflate the Daniel Murphy hype bubble only to pop it himself once the season got underway?

Everyone on this team is hurt, rumor has it that Mr. Met will go on the DL today with a swelled head, and despite this Jerry still refuses to play Church. He plays the guy just enough to get comfortable and anytime he starts to get hot Jerry Manuel immediately buries him on the bench for 4-5 games. I truly wonder if Ryan Church bang Jerry’s daughter or something. This is a personal vendetta.

Who’s responsible for the Mets medical staff?

Who’s responsible for the Mets medical staff?

Seriously. How does this part of the franchise still remain intact? Even people who don’t have medical insurance would refuse care by this group. They routinely f-up players worse then they were before. Is Isiah Thomas running the medical staff?

Ryan Church gets two concussions within weeks of each other? What do these idiots do? Stuff him on a pressurized flight across country. Great idea. Check out his baseball card to see how his performance has been since.

The Mets are choking already

The Mets are choking already

I don’t want to be one of those chicken little doomsayers that always predicts doom and gloom. I want to start by saying I like this Mets team on paper. Yeah I think there are moves that should have been made, and moves that should be made in the future, but overall I like the squad.

With that said there is something about this team that just makes a Mets fan sick. They have no intestinal fortitude. They are gutless. They are a bunch of choke artists.

Sure I can go on and on about the last two seasons that ended in historic collapses and broke all Mets fan’s hearts. But that’s not actually what I am talking about in this particular moment.

Remember the guy who got traded for 10 bats? He’s dead!

March 7, 2009 Baseball No Comments

Last May the humorous story of a minor league player who was traded for a pile of 10 bats was getting major play with the media. At the time it didn’t seem that sad of a story because the reason he was traded was because he couldn’t get cleared to work in Canada so the team decided to get a little something (and free PR) for him and thus traded him for the maple sticks.

Turns out less then a year later the guy, John Odom, washed out of the minors and gave up on baseball for good. He returned home and according to the medical examiner was the victim of an accidental overdose.

Pretty sad story.

Karma is a bitch, A-Roid Hurt

March 5, 2009 Baseball No Comments

In what has to be a case of karma biting you in the ass, Alex Rodriguez will have to undergo surgery for an injured hip.

In what has been a nightmare month for the NY Yankees it just keeps getting worse. Though he has been much maligned off the field he was possible the single position player the Yankees could NOT stand to lose. There is just no replacement for his output. And despite having a payroll of about 3 billion dollars they don’t have much in the way of backups on this team.

It will be interesting to see how the Yankees move to hopefully help to fill the void. That is assuming of course that even when A-Fraud comes back he will be up to his normal self, and that’s definitely not a certainty with this type of injury.

Haynesworth to Skins for 100 Mill+

February 27, 2009 Featured News, Football No Comments

I-N-S-A-N-E. How the hell doe the Skins afford to keep spending so much money on the free agent market? It seems like every year they spend a billion dollars and yet you never hear about them having cap issues. Remember Adam Archuleta for like 50 mil?

Anyays Haynesworth is a great player, no disputing that, and as a Giants fan I am upset we now have him in the division.

But I have a feeling that – for this amount of money – this will end up being a really bad signing down the road. At least I hope so.

ESPN:

Albert Haynesworth hit the free-agent jackpot Friday morning by reaching agreement on a seven-year, $100 million deal with the Washington Redskins that could end up maxing out at $115 million based on his performance, according to sources.

Mike and Mike in the Morning

Vinny Cerrato says it was a long night signing Albert Haynesworth and D’Angelo Hall. Vinny says the market price was right around what they signed him for and you are going to have to pay for premium talent in this market.

The deal, which was reached early Friday morning, includes an NFL-record $41 million in guarantees. During the first 13 months of the contract, Haynesworth will earn approximately $32 million.

A news conference is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET at Redskins Park.

Tiger’s Back – Awesome Nike Commercial

Tiger Woods returned to the tee yesterday after nearly a year recovering from knee surgery. This commercial basically must sum up how the rest of the PGA has felt over the last 8 months or so.

Viking Horn Beer Bong

February 26, 2009 Cool Stuff No Comments

This is a MUST have for any Minnesota Viking fan. I will probably buy one or two just to give to my buddy who is a huge Viking fan.

I need to find out if this thing can be drank from and blown through. If it actually make the horn noise then this is an epic gift.

Welcome Back Tiger!

February 25, 2009 Featured News, Golf No Comments

After months spent recovering and rehabbing his knee, Tiger Woods is back, making golf relevant again. Man did we miss you Tiger.

I love to play golf. I don’t really love to watch golf. I have learned over the last 8 months or so that I do love to watch Tiger play golf. If he’s not in the tourny then it’s just not as interesting. Does that make me a front-runner? I don’t know. But I know it makes me a big Tiger fan.

It’s good to have him back and I look forward to my first Fathers Day Sunday watching Tiger play some golf (hopefully even in person again as this years open is rather close).
